Special FBI agents arrange for Ellen Andress and her family to relocate into the Federal Witness Protection Program after they experience a horrible tragedy. She discovers everything she owns is confiscated and sold to purchase half of a dilapidated horse farm, located in the State of Virginia. With no money to renovate, the fine antiques and collectables within the house becomes a source of income, but it won't come soon enough to help. Ellen can generate what she needs by way of the intriguing world of horseracing, wagering, and high-stakes betting. The family is engulfed into a tangled web of deceit as odd calamities and incidents begin to happen. When a Thoroughbred is mysteriously murdered, Ellen attempts to contact the agents, but to no avail. In a panic, she contacts the FBI and the CIA, but they have no knowledge of them. A CIA team steps in after Ellen convinces them that they are in danger, and it's soon clear that her son is the next target.
