The ongoing work in the Confederate Section of Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, North Carolina, has been and continues to be a labor of love and teamwork for more than 140 years. Over the generations, constant and untiring care has been exercised, not only to put and keep the grounds in order, but to make them more beautiful. It has been the task and aim of several groups (both ladies' and men's) to bring recognition to each man buried there. Hundreds of volunteers over the years have worked to restore and maintain this area, and their contribution to history is something that anyone who reveres, respects and honors their Confederate, Southern heritage - or those who value history in general - can appreciate. This book is a way to thank them and recognize their hard work. Included are cemetery maps and an alphabetical listing of known Confederate soldiers buried at Oakwood.
